Now that summer finally seems to be on its way, more of us are thinking about spending time outside in our gardens and on our patios. So its a good time to be thinking about furniture like
garden tables, and, at this stage in the season, there are still some great bargains to be had - and plenty of choice.
If your garden is a labour of love, then you really do need some garden furniture so that you and your family and friends can sit out and admire it. You'll almost certainly need a table as part of any outdoor furniture set, but with so many different kinds on the market, and at widely varying prices, it can be hard to know where to start looking for one that's perfect for your needs.
Of course, as with buying anything else, you may be confined to an extent by budget and the amount of space you have available, and it's also worth considering how often and for what purpose you will be using the table.
Will you be having lots of people over for dinner throughout summer, for example, or do you just need a smaller table for holding a couple of cups or glasses? How sturdy does it need to be? If you need something particularly robust, a garden table with a glass top is probably not the right one for you, for example.
Your choice may also be at least partially determined by the weather conditions where you live and how protected your garden is from the elements.
When buying garden tables, one of the most important decisions is the material they will be made from. Plastic is one of the cheapest materials, but this furniture isn't particularly stable when the wind gets up.
Metal furniture coated in vinyl or plastic works well and looks attractive, as well as being hard-wearing.
Real natural wood is a wonderful material for garden tables, especially for larger picnic tables. Teak, for example, is strong and stylish while also being long-lasting and very low maintenance. Its also completely waterproof. If you want to preserve its colour, just paint on some teak protector, which will also guard against mildew.
If environmental concerns are important to you, there is a good selection of recycled plastic garden tables available, or you could buy a table made from sustainably sourced wood.
Another option is
garden tables made from metal, such as aluminium. Although these can benefit from a coating of metal paint after a few years, just like wooden tables they are very long-lasting and require almost no upkeep.
If you have a modest-sized formal or cottage garden and don't entertain a huge number of people outside, a small, wrought-iron bistro table could be a very attractive and chic addition to your outdoor furniture set.
You may not have thought about buying a garden table online before, but you can often save money by doing so, while also having the freedom to shop when you like and wherever suits you best. And you won't have to worry about carting your purchase home - your furniture will be delivered to your door.
Search the web for the best selection of garden tables and find the size, style and material which suits you best. Do it now so that your outdoor furniture is sorted for the summer, and while the best bargains are still available.
