Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

You've got to feel a bit sorry for George Lucas. Having hit the jackpot with the original Star Wars trilogy and then Indiana Jones, pretty much anything he'd try to do afterwards was always going to have to be utterly brilliant to stop the moaning fanboys. Instead he gave us the Ewok movies, the prequels and then – my personal frothing at the mouth moment – The Clone Wars film. The Star Wars franchise is like a horse being flogged to within an inch of its life. But there is still life in the beast yet – at least if you're a gamer.

Star Wars games across the years have been a bit of a mixed bag. For every Knights of the Old Republic or Lego Star Wars there were half a dozen movie tie ins to milk the fans dry. And let's not even mention Jedi Knight.

But the Force Unleashed is, well, good. It's not phenomenal, and it's not a KotoR, or even Star Wars Galaxies, but if you like your button mashing Jedi flavoured you really couldn't ask for better.

Set between the end of the prequels and the beginning of the original trilogy, The Force Unleashed sees players join the Dark Side in helping Vader's secret apprentice rid the universe of Jedi. While the game is glitchy and a bit short, there is a lot of fun here – the voice acting (led by Sam Witwer from Battlestar Galactica and Dexter) is excellent, there is a lot of humour, a fair few nods and in-jokes and much to be enjoyed.

You'll know whether you like it by the end of the first level. If throwing wookiees across the landscape and slaughtering them with the power of your mind doesn't leave you grinning giddily then this may not be your game.

If you are a fan though then this is well worth the cost of admission – with the story and the ramifications for the saga as a whole lingering longer in the mind than the debacle of the Clone Wars film.

This looked a good game good to be on the darker side of things ment to be a good twist but after a few missions you change sides a bit of a letdown was looking forward to being evil in this game
