A BARRHEAD beauty is set to make her catwalk debut after beating thousands of girls in a modelling competition.

Pretty Marissa Docherty, (right) thought she would never make it to the finals of the Top Model competition and still can’t believe she will make her catwalk debut this week.

The 16-year-old said: “It’s all down to my dad because he encouraged me to enter the competition in the first place.

“I never thought I stood a chance and I was really surprised when I reached the final eight and then I was picked to be in the final two.

“It was such a surprise and now I am really excited to appear in a fashion show.

“I will be modelling shoes and accessories and I just hope that the heels are not too high.

“Hopefully I will be able to win the overall title but I am up against some tough competition.”

And the fifth year pupil at St Lukes will have her family and friends supporting her as she sashes down the runway at The Avenue shopping centre on Saturday.

She adds: My parents are delighted for me and they will be cheering me on.

“It will be a fantastic experience and even if I don’t win I am hoping that it will lead to some modelling work in the future.

And the excited teenager has been perfecting her catwalk strut by watching her favourite show Britain’s Next Top Model.

She added: “I’ve been watching how the models walk on the catwalk and I’ve been practising at home and I think I have the hang of it now.

“I would love the chance to model and I can only hope that this is the start of things to come.”

Marissa will appear at the Avenue Shopping Centre alongside another finalist Louise Cremer, from Thornliebank and judges will decide who is the overall winner.

Both girls will be judged on stage presence, confidence and musicality as well as their looks.

The winner will be announced at the end of the show and let’s hope our Barrhead beauty is a runaway success.
